When people talk about building websites, they usually talk about the parts you can see.

Frameworks. Design systems. Performance scores. Animations. Components. The JavaScript library everyone is pretending they did not just learn yesterday.

That is the fun part.

Or at least the part that photographs well.

Rarely does anyone talk about what happens after the deployment finishes.

That is where DNS comes in.

I have deployed and maintained more than a hundred websites over the last decade, which means I have spent a meaningful portion of my life staring at records with names like
CNAME
,
A
,
AAAA
, and
TXT
, wondering if I made a mistake or if the internet was simply taking its time to humiliate me.

There are probably more strategic reasons I could give you for launching a blog.

I could say that I wanted to build my personal brand.

I could say that I wanted to establish myself as a thought leader.

I could even say that I wanted to create a platform to share my expertise with the world.

Those are all nice phrases. Very professional. Very LinkedIn. The kind of phrases people use when they want boredom to wear a blazer.
